Best Steak in Waikīkī — Certified Angus Ribeye at ShoreFyre

Best Steak in Waikīkī — Certified Angus Ribeye at ShoreFyre

Ask around Waikīkī for a good steak and you'll get pointed toward white tablecloths, valet parking, and a bill that lands somewhere north of what you paid for the flight. There's a place for that. But if what you actually want is a properly cooked Certified Angus Beef ribeye, a cold drink, open air, and a walk home along the beach — you're looking for something different.

ShoreFyre Fresh Grill & Bar serves one of the best steaks in Waikīkī from two locations in the heart of the neighborhood — the open-air beach bar on Koa Ave and the lanai above the Great Banyan Tree at the International Market Place. Here's the full steak lineup, what to order, and how to build the night around it.

The ShoreFyre Ribeye — 10oz Certified Angus Beef

ShoreFyre Ribeye — 10oz Certified Angus Beef steak with crispy fried onions in Waikīkī

The anchor of the steak menu is the ShoreFyre Ribeye: a 10oz Certified Angus Beef ribeye, grilled to order and finished with a pile of crispy fried onions. Ribeye is the right cut for a beach-town grill — well marbled, forgiving on the flame, and big on flavor without needing much help. The fried onions add crunch and a little sweetness against the char.

Two sides are included, and the choices matter: french fries, garlic fries, white rice, house salad, or grilled veggies, with caesar or fried rice available as a substitute. Local move is white rice to catch the juices; visitor move is garlic fries. Either way it's a full dinner, not a steak à la carte with a $14 side of potatoes. Priced at $42, it's the best steak-per-dollar proposition in the neighborhood.

Surf N Turf — Ribeye Meets Kahuku Garlic Shrimp

ShoreFyre Surf N Turf — ribeye steak with Kahuku style garlic shrimp, Waikīkī

If you're only having one steak dinner in Waikīkī, this is the one to argue for. The Surf N Turf takes the same 10oz Certified Angus Beef ribeye with crispy fried onions and pairs it with your choice of five Kahuku-style shell-on garlic shrimp or 4oz of fresh ahi. It's the two things Hawaiʻi does best on one plate — island beef done right and the North Shore's most famous shrimp, without the drive to the North Shore. Add sautéed onions or mushrooms for $2 if you want to go classic steakhouse with it.

At $48 it's the top of the menu, and it earns it. The garlic shrimp version is the crowd favorite; the ahi version is the one for anyone who wants the steak to share the plate with something lighter and cleaner. (The shrimp deserve their own story — read why ShoreFyre's garlic shrimp is the best in Waikīkī.)

Steak for Breakfast — Steak N Eggs and Kalbi & Eggs

ShoreFyre Steak N Eggs — Certified Angus ribeye with two eggs, Waikīkī breakfast

Steak isn't only a dinner thing here. The breakfast menu runs a proper Steak N Eggs — the same 10oz Certified Angus Beef ribeye, served with two eggs any style and your choice of breakfast potatoes or rice, for $33. It's the right order the morning after a late night, before a long beach day, or on the day you land and your body clock still thinks it's dinnertime.

For the local version of the idea, Kalbi & Eggs puts Korean-style marinated short ribs — sweet, charred, sesame-and-scallion-finished — next to two eggs and rice. Kalbi is one of the great Hawaiʻi plate-lunch traditions, and at dinner the Kalbi Plate brings the same short ribs back as a main. If you want beef in Waikīkī but want it to taste specifically like Hawaiʻi, this is that dish.

How to Do a Steak Night in Waikīkī

Start at happy hour. ShoreFyre's happy hour runs 3–6PM — daily at Koa Ave, Mon–Fri at the IMP — with $7 premium spirits and $10 signature cocktails. A Tiki Old Fashioned before a ribeye is a strong opening move.

Pick your setting. Koa Ave is the open-air beach bar a block off the sand — casual, breezy, walk-in friendly, the place for a steak with your feet still sandy. The International Market Place lanai overlooks the Great Banyan Tree and Kalākaua Avenue, with live music from local artists every evening from 5PM — that's the one to reserve if you want the steak dinner to feel like an occasion.

Time it right. Both ribeyes are on the Koa Ave dinner menu and the IMP lunch & dinner menu. Koa Ave runs late — the kitchen serves until 11PM on Mondays and 2AM Tuesday through Sunday — so a post-sunset steak at 9PM is completely normal here, and a late-night one after a show is on the table too.

Why Steak at a Beach Bar Works

Waikīkī has no shortage of places to spend $80 on a steak in a dining room that could be anywhere in the world. ShoreFyre's pitch is the opposite: Certified Angus Beef, cooked on a real grill, served in the open air a few minutes' walk from Waikīkī Beach, at a price that leaves room for the cocktails and the sides. The ribeye is the same cut and grade you'd expect from a steakhouse; the setting is the reason you came to Hawaiʻi in the first place.

Locally owned, serving breakfast through late night, with happy hour, live music, and Fyre by Night at the IMP for anyone who wants the evening to keep going after the plates are cleared.

Come for the ribeye. Stay for the sunset.
